Meet Kara Brown
Dr. Brown earned her Ed.D. in Clinical Sport Psychology from Boston University and her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Boston College. She is a former Postdoctoral Fellow at Boston College, where she completed a fellowship in college student development, focusing on the integration of psychodynamic theory (dynamic short-term model) as it relates to university and collegiate student populations. Dr. Brown completed a second doctorate in psychoanalysis from The Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis. She completed the 4-year training program there which is modeled after a comparative approach.
Dr. Brown’s approach is informed by a deep appreciation for attachment theory and relational contributions. Her collaborative style of therapy provides a warm, nurturing professional environment for individuals who feel stuck in their current lives or struggle to find greater meaning.
Trained to discern both subtle and profound expressions of the unconscious, she offers authentic engagement in translating current patterns and impasses back to early-life experiences. Lastly, she strives to tailor each treatment to the individual, ensuring a “custom-made fit” through attentiveness and emotional engagement at every step of the process.
